Shopping with the twins

The twins and I made a trip to Lowe's today (Arden was a school). I really don't take a lot of shopping trips with them or other trips for that matter because well it's just a lot of work to get them both dressed and ready to go, in the car seats, out of the car seats, into the stroller and into the store. Then I have to worry about the double stroller - will it fit through the door, will I be able to get around a particular store easily? So yeah they just don't get out much.

At any rate, we did go to Lowe's today. And when we do get out, boy do we get a lot of attention. I hadn't even made it out of the car with both of them and this older couple saw us in the parking lot, "Oh we have double trouble grandchildren! How cute! Boy and a girl? Oh how lucky. Aren't they just fun? Ours are 9 now." ... yada yada yada.

Then we make it into the store and I go to the return counter and all the women there go nuts. "Oh twins! How cute! How old? They're so sweet!"

Then we go to the paint area (had to get some paint mixed) and the lady there goes nuts. While we were waiting for the paint I think 15 employees must have come by to see them and talk to them. I just think it's funny. I mean I know they're cute and all, but really people it's just two babies in a stroller. :)

And the customer service I get when I have the twins? Amazing. People bend over backwards to help me out.

My favorite though are the questions we get when we are out, now of course I answer politely but in my head this is what I'm thinking.

"Are they twins?"
(Um, no I just borrowed a friend's child to go shopping.)

"Boy and a girl?"
(Um... she's in pink and he's in yellow and blue.) Although I guess I can lay off on this one because if someone just glanced they might not be able to tell.

"Are they fraternal?"
(Well, they kind of have to be.)
It's amazing how many people don't understand the difference between identical twins and fraternal.

And the winner of today is:

"Who is older?"
Me: Annie, by a minute
"Really? I would've thought he is older since he is so big."
(Ummmm....... really? So if he were older BY A WHOLE MINUTE that would totally explain why he is bigger. Yeah. Good grief.)

Ah, good times shopping with the twins.
