Aqua Ballerina

Am I back? Well it's hard to say. I might try to keep up with this blog again, we'll see. I've only missed 5 months of my childrens' lives - ah, but whose counting. I haven't had the laptop working properly so that's my excuse. I'm too lazy to get up and walk into the room that is maybe 15 feet away to use the computer. I could say that being in the other room isn't proper parenting as I don't have my eyes on the kids. I feel much better about sitting with a computer in the living room, watching them, yet ignoring them, to "play" on the computer.

At any rate I do need to keep up with the stories that come out of the Silver family household these days. And you can be amused by them - laugh at them and be happy you're not me.

So here goes, the story of the day:

Arden and I went to the pool today and met our neighbor there with her two boys. She got to swim in her new ballerina swimsuit, modeled here:

(No, I didn't leave the twins to fend for themselves, they were home with the nanny).

We are also in the midst of potty-training, which as a side note is going very well, but at the pool she still wore the swim diaper because I don't quite trust her completely yet. Well this turned out to be a good thing. About 40 minutes into our fun, I find her behind the frog slide.

Arden: Mommy, I have some poopy.
Me: Well thank you for telling me and thank you for not doing it in the pool.

In my head I'm thanking the good Lord that she didn't poop in the pool because you know what that means - pool shutdown, drain the pool, pool closed for days. Yeah that would've been awesome - "Excuse me lifeguard, my daughter just pooped in the pool." Immediate evacuation and then all parent eyes are on me and Arden and I walk the walk of poop shame to the locker room. So I breathed a sigh of relief and continued with the situation. She has never done this at the pool before so I was trying to come up with my plan of attack.

Me: Okay Arden lets go change your diaper and then we'll come back out to play.
Arden: No! Mommy! I'm still pooping! (and still hiding behind the frog slide, and making pooping faces)

Meanwhile my friend and I are cracking up, mainly at the faces she is making.

Me: Ok, well let me know when you're finished.

3 minutes go by.

Me: Ok, Arden we're going to change it now.
Arden: NO! MOMMY! I'M STILL POOPING! (and still hiding behind the frog slide, but the pooping faces have ceased).

Me: Yeah, well, I think you're all done. Come on. We'll do this fast and be right back out to play.

So she finally listens this time and we run to the locker room to make the change. Well she's dripping wet, I don't want to wrap her in the towel because well I didn't want poop to get on it - you know just in case we were in a big mess. So I layer the changing table with paper towels to catch the water and the possible mess that is within, lay her down and get the job done. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought - the bathing suit was safe so we were able to go back out to swim. Granted she had to squeeze into one of Jack and Annie's swim diapers because I didn't have any more of hers but she didn't care. Crisis averted! We went back out to the pool, swam some more, and then left to go home.

And in other news, I found Annie playing in the toilet today. Awesome.
