Raspberry picking

Arden and I had a mommy/daughter date on Friday morning while daddy stayed home with the twins. We went to a local farm to pick blueberries but their blueberries weren't in yet so we had to settle for raspberries instead. This was a little bit more challenging as raspberry bushes have little thorns everywhere, but Arden didn't seem to mind. I did have to try to teach her that you only pick the really red ones. She also was very interested in eating them - finally I told her that she could eat one and then I think every other one she picked ended up in her mouth! Then we had a nice lunch at the farm and even had some of their homemade ice cream - yum! The outing was great until we went to leave and then the meltdown happened, gotta love 2 year olds and their meltdowns! I tried to calmly get to the car although Arden wouldn't walk to the car and I had the bags of fruit and other farm goodies in my hand so I pretty much had to drag her across the parking lot to our car. She had a good little cry and then fell asleep on the way home - guess she got too tired. All in all though a fun outing - we'll have to go again when the blueberries are ready or the peaches are ready in August.
